About Bob Kothenbeutel

Bob Kothenbeutel has been a "bird person" since his early childhood in Iowa  and over the years has expressed this interest in both art and photography.  Even though he studied and trained to become a physician he still found time to enjoy the out of doors. Moving to Washington state in the early 70's opened a new and excited world to explore. From the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean to Puget Sound to the Cascade Mountains to the arid regions on the east side, Washington has so much to offer the photographer.

Bob has had no professional training in either art or photography yet he won the 1981 Washington State Upland Bird Stamp design competition and was named Washington State Artist of the Year by Ducks Unlimited. His artwork has been used extensively by large corporations including AT&T, Data IO and Thousand Trails. His photographic images have appeared in numerous magazines including Audubon, National Wildlife, International Wildlife, Ducks Unlimited, Pacific Northwest and Washington Wildlife.

Bob's main emphasis is birds in motion, whether it be flying or interacting, but he won't pass up the opportunity for a clean detailed portrait. This website showcases his best work.
